The source winery for Lot 409 is a small producer in the Atlas Bench area just east of the Silverado Trail in the AVA no-mans-land surrounded by Atlas Peak to the north, Oak Knoll to the west and Coombsville to the South.
This is a fantastic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon; quintessentially opaque and dark-fruited with a sexy, nervy structure overlaid with some killer componentry, finessed to perfection with a little blending magic (6% Cab Franc, 4% Merlot).
How does a spot-on $75/bottle program ’21 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon sound for just $38/bottle?
Deep and dark, just on the edge of opaque; classic 2021 extraction. The bouquet is sexy with a good mix of high tones and rich fruit - ripe black cherry, raspberry, toffee, chocolate and cedar aromas are effusive and well delineated. The wine is robust and chewy on entry with big, grainy tannins that unfurl a mix of red and black fruits over a medium full-bodied structure with excellent energy and verve. This is a wonderful Cabernet with a lively mineral core, robust fruit, and terrific oak integration. Seamlessly structured, it delivers length, purity, and precision - hallmarks of the excellent 2021 vintage.
