Tasting: Opaque in the glass with a dusky plum rim. Dusty blackberry coffeecake with hints of cassis that take on weight as the wine opens up. Before you know it, blueberry, dark chocolate and hazelnut come to the fore before shifting to dusty plums, graphite and earth. Youthful and gregarious, this ever-shifting Cabernet is ripe with complexity. Smooth on entry with chocolate, plums and blackberry fruit coating youthful tannins that dominate the lengthy finish. Well balanced.
Check-in tasting 6.23.21 - The wine that launched it all. Bourbon-soaked cherry on the nose but still dense and oaky with a great spectrum of French and American oak. Fleshy firm and generous on the palate with lots of sexy oak. Fairly approachable but still lots of unwinding to do here. Day 2: brown sugar, mocha and black licorice join the chorus, much fleshier on the palate with lots of coffee in the finish. Lots of oak to integrate here...still a baby. What a deal...

Opaque core with magenta/violet rim, this 2017 [redacted]-derived Cabernet Sauvignon leaps from the glass with an amalgam of chaparral, blackberry, black currant, rocky loam and graphite. Sappy, ripe black fruit mingles energetically with [redacted] classic dusty hillside tannins in a long finish echoing blackberry, licorice and tobacco. An archetype of the vintage (with no smoke taint), this sexy, ephemeral, hillside Cabernet front-lines for around $90/bottle at the winery. A steal at $15/bottle.
Check-in tasting 6.23.21 - sourced from the legendary Stagecoach Vineyard. Those of you lucky enough to have purchased this should be thrilled…I think this will go down as one of the best wine deals of all time. The aromas are dense and huge and just starting to complex. Humongous fruit on the palate is mitigated by even more potent mountain structure. Decant for couple hours prior or 24-hour decant.
