Much like the Kenny Roger's song "The Gambler", in the wine world "you gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run."Adding bottle age, even for a couple months can be the difference between greatness and mediocrity. We get a mix of wines we like based on how we know they'll develop over time and some that are open knit and taste dynamite out of the gate. These are all fantastic wines, but just note we highly advise you hold the ones we tell you to. We are offering a limited number of these mixed Cab-Merlot cases for the unbelievable price of $179/case DELIVERED . That's a solid 34% savings vs. buying individually in our bottle shop. Sold under their original winery labels, this case would retail for $600-700. Here's what's in the case, 4-bottles of each wine:
Hold 'em (Cellar) Lot 230 | 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain Simply put, it's a screaming-deal-magic-carpet-ride . Deep, deep, ruby - just a shade off of inky. Newly but nicely emerging from shock with an ethereal bouquet of sweet florals and black cherry fruit complexed with red rock mineral and cocoa powder. Smooth, seamless and balanced on entry with a chewy backbone of minerally tannins beautifully balancing the vibrant red currant and black cherry fruit notes in a long, sustained finish. There is more to come here but this wine is already a delicious delight worthy of indulgence.
Drinkable now with a good decant, but you will be rewarded with letting it age in the cellar for 6+months. Will age gracefully for next 5-10 years.
Walk (Drink or Cellar) Lot 95 | 2018 Alexander Valley Merlot Gold Medal, San Francisco International Wine Competition Deep garnet in the glass. The bouquet is spicy with clove, singing cherry, and brown sugar notes wrapped in tobacco leaf. Rich up front on the palate with cherry and graham cracker haloed with herb de Provence and dried chile with a little Red Hot spice adding serious complexity. Vibrant acid and tension on mid palate are resinous with well-delineated red fruits singing throughout the lengthy finish.
Drink or hold for the next 4-5 years.
Run (Drink Now) Lot 227 | 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Russian River Valley Opaque black with hint of magenta around the rim. Enticing perfume aromas of violets, vanilla and bourbon soak cherry, with spicy notes of hot cinnamon and coriander, framed lightly toasted french oak. Elegant yet palate-staining, with mouth watering vibrancy that candies the spiced, cherry fruit singing through the immaculate finish. While Lot 227 is pop and pour, you can safely hold on to this for the next couple of years.$179/case DELIVERED . If you are a Cab lover, I would think twice about folding on this offer.
