Last Spring, while attending Prowein in Germany, I came across the Graves Association of Bordeaux "highlights" table where I had the opportunity to taste about 30-40 different Graves white wines. The wine on offer today immediately captured my attention and I tracked down the producer, Chateau La Rose Sarron, and struck up a conversation.

Soon I had a host of samples in our office and  chose two fantastic wines to offer you today. One of which, of course, is the wine that captured my attention in the first place, aptly named Ambassadeur de Graves. Well, no wonder the association chose it to highlight the regions capabilities.

The "Ambassadeur de Graves" is a barrel-fermented and aged blend of all three grapes: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Muscadelle.

Immediately Fumé-styled on the nose with noticeable barrel presence - think a Chard lovers’ White Bordeaux. Greets you with barrel spices wrapped around a core of lemon curd and orange creamsicle haloed by caramel - a little air opens up an orange chiffon and bergamot perfume. The entry is plush and mouth coating with resonant honeycomb flecked by ginger against a backdrop of medium, crystalline acidity. The finish is full for a white with resonant vanilla and spiced orange peel.

Blend of Estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle and Semillon Graves AOC
100% barrel-fermented and aged
