Wine Details & Tasting Notes

Russian River Pinot Noir Lovers: its time to back up the truck!

Yes, Lot 270 2019 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is from the same winery as Lot 247 2018 Russian River Valley Chardonnay (now SOLD OUT)  and I'll be honest, I bought this for a song; however, I am passing the savings along to you.

As I mentioned previously, the winery was a little backed up and had the wine stored offsite. The offsite location needed it out and the winery offered us a hot price to make it go away.

The producer is a small Russian River boutique winery that sells primarily though its tasting room/mailing list and on-premise restaurant accounts so, like most small producers with $55/bottle Pinot Noir, they got a little backed up during COVID shutdowns.

Priced today for just $12+/bottle +$10 shipping, this is a screaming deal on, again, a right-up-the-middle stylistically, no expense spared Russian River Pinot Noir!

It has all the bells and whistles including 50% new French oak and features plenty of mid-palate richness but always with just the right amount of verve.

Medium to deep garnet/ruby on the glass this wine looks deeply extracted/brooding but it's incredibly aromatically complex. The bouquet is fragrant and spicy with aromas and flavors of dried rose petals, ripe black cherry, ginger, bay leaf, cinnamon, and orange oil contrasting with the savory notes of redwood duff/forest floor, and coriander. On the palate, the complex layers provide spicy tension to complement the long, smooth, black-fruited depth that carries through the finish and lingers with notes of toasted french oak and Asian spice. This wine exudes richness but a dichotomy of elegance and savory depth keep things on their toes at all times.

Will drink great in the near-term and age beautifully over the next 10-15 years.

100% Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
50% new French oak barrels (Francois Freres, Allier, Remond Troncais)
14.8% alc.
