Lot 281 is the Domaine Rutz 2018 Sonoma Cuvee Chardonnay that I recently purchased in its entirety. Its a classically styled with Burgundian leanings that make it a fantastic, right up the middle Chardonnay with broad appeal. If you are looking for a terrific everyday Chardonnay that won't break the bank, this is your wine!
A blend of 70% Russian River Valley and 30% Sonoma Carneros and Sonoma Coast fruit, this beautiful Chardonnay is barrel-fermented (with 100% malolactic fermentation) and aged in 33% new French oak for just the right balance of fruit, richness, butter and structure.
Normally retailing for $20/bottle (and a value at at that), it's yours today for just $99/case or $8.25/bottle, Shipping Included!
Limpid yellow in the glass. Pretty bouquet of ripe apple and tangerine fruit, light spice, limestone and fresh butter with just a kiss of vanilla blossom. Soft, juicy and fleshy on the palate with tropical fruit and citrus fruit in perfect balance. Warm wood and banana notes with butter/caramel enrichen the palate and mouthwatering acidity keeps thing lively and long. Again, the balance here is pitch-perfect. This Chardonnay is just entering its perfect drinking window and will show nicely for the next 3-5 years.
