Bordeaux buddy strikes again!
Our Bordeaux contact has been been rattling his rolodex to unearth some tremendous wines for us lately. The latest find is a couple hundred cases of 2020 Vouvray Sec "Cuvee Silex" SHINERS from
Sec = dry.
From 25+-year-old-vines raised in gravelled tuffeau and clay-silex flint, this is a laser-focused mineral supernova of a wine and a mouthwateringly delicious expression
terroir. If you like 'em bright, effusive and refreshing you are absolutely going to love this. I have had this bottle open on my tasting table now for a week and it's still fresh as a daisy!
Pale straw in the glass. Fresh, precise and minerally turns effusive and boisterous with air, the crystalline bouquet bursting from the glass with yellow apple, almond blossoms and flint interlaced with lemon- and quince-flecked minerality. Fantastic! Mouthwatering on entry, this wine explodes on your palate, a nervy supernova of lemon, quince, rock and apple showcasing pure, pristine, precise energy. Should age beautifully over the next decade. Please be sure to enjoy this at cellar temperature to really appreciate the nuance and verve.
