Description

Lot 503 is an expertly crafted 100% Chardonnay composed of phenomenal fruit from Napa Carneros and Oak Knoll. The grapes from Carneros come from a famous single block used by blue-chip estates, while the grapes from Oak Knoll hail from one of the most acclaimed Chardonnay vineyards in the valley. Under its original label, this club exclusive is sold at $45/bottle, $540/case. It’s yours for over 60% OFF.

The wine opens with a bouquet of classic apple, Asian pear, and zesty lemon, elegant in its presentation with additional river stones and blossoms around the edges. On the palate, the wine unfolds with lemon oils, pears, and citrus rind, divinely resonant and elevated by integrated spice and lively acidity. The finish is clean and dry, highlighting a strong umami depth alongside uplifted spice, fresh butter, lemon peel, and wet stone minerality.

The consistently cool weather of 2023 allowed the grapes a few extra weeks on the vine, so by the time they were hand-picked, they’d achieved a rare combination of full phenolic maturity and vibrant acidity. While other estates in the valley tend to use liberal amounts of oak, this winemaker takes a more restrained approach – the grapes fermented in stainless steel, and after undergoing partial malolactic, were settled into a neutral French oak barrel regimen with regular lees stirring. This allows the fruit to shine through, celebrating Napa Valley’s world-class terroir.
