Wine Details & Tasting Notes

Drink or hold 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet? Why not do both?

Each mixed case includes 6 bottles of the following:

Lot 253 | 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - Lot 253 is the big brother to Lot 255. The producer would only sell it to us as "Napa Valley" but, at 88%, the wine qualifies as Coombsville appellation (with a splash of Mt. Veeder Cabernet thrown in for additional structure).

Similar in style to Lot 255, Lot 253 Cabernet Sauvignon is a cut above - ridiculously juicy and delicious (totally emblematic of the 2019 vintage style) but with unparalleled purity, complexity, and structure. It sees 70% new French oak and retails for $90-$100/bottle.

Deep garnet in the glass. Candied and focused, the bouquet is dynamite possessing rare floral aromas of violets and dried rose petals, mingling with perfectly ripe raspberry, juicy black cherry, sandalwood, pipe tobacco, and holiday spices of clove and cinnamon. It truly shines on the palate though...silky, sexy and energetic with raspberry and black cherry riding ultra-fine tannin to a resplendent finish. Aromatic cedar and spruce complex the finish brilliantly. Boom!

This wine is still a baby and will benefit from a little more time in the cellar. Your patience will be rewarded and while you are waiting you can pop and pour...

Lot 255 | 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - Lot 255 is the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon equivalent of our immensely popular Lot 239 GSM. Seamless integration, rich, chocolatey, open-knit mouthfeel, and the lush-yet-energetic fruit of Napa Valley's fantastic 2019 vintage all make for an incredible drinking experience.

The wine is sourced from an all-estate producer with eight vineyards from Coombsville to Mt. Veeder. Today's offering is sourced from their small properties in the west side alluvials of Oak Knoll and the lower, gravelly drainage of Coombsville. The owner/winemaker has a long history in Napa Valley and has been head winemaker at three iconic Napa Valley, ultra-premium wineries. No expense was spared in the production of this wine, including 65% new French oak, and it is absolutely delicious.

Juicy and intriguing, this wine exudes aromas of warm rain, violets, blackberry compote, aromatic cedar and spruce, and chocolate toffee. Straddling elegance and depth on the palate, lush layers of blackberry and black cherry framed with savory tones of tobacco and aromatic hardwoods lend a focused vibrancy to the lingering, chocolaty finish.
