***WINE FUTURES SHIPPING EARLY APRIL***

Hands down one of the things I love about what I do (believe it or not) isn't necessarily getting epic Napa Cabs for killer prices - well, lets be clear, I do love that too - but instead getting these lesser-known varietals or unconventional expressions of known grapes from regions of the world you may not be entirely familiar with that just blow the roof off the QPR charts.

To that end, I previously released a Nero d'Avola Riserva; the most-known grape from Sicily. Now, I have a run of native grapes, in solo expressions (generally used for blending), and one of the best, most unconventional Syrahs I've come across in years - done in an appassimento style (think Amarone, but Syrah instead).

It's best to describe this run of wines as fresh, expressive, ready to drink, chocked full of terroir, and just outright killer deals at this price. Where else can you sample organic/biodynamic island wares from the largest island in the Mediterranean for under $9/bottle? Right here, in Tranche 1, on this list!

This offer looks like this: 4 reds, 3 bottles of each, in a mixed case for $99 ($8+/bottle). Boom.

Now, on to the wines...

Lot 335 | 2021 Frappato Sicilia DOC
Dried strawberries and white pepper dominate the nose with secondary notes of tobacco and pomegranate. The entry is terror-driven with further tobacco and white pepper lifting up clove-like spice amidst medium acidity and small, plush tannins. The finish is dry and spiced with a nice minerality for a red, earthy with resonant fresh turned soils and tobacco leaf. For fans of German Pinot Noir/Spätburgunder.

Lot 336 | 2021 Nerello Mascalese Terre Siciliane IGT
If you’re a fan of Burgundy, you need this wine in your life; strawberries and cherries on the nose harmoniously intertwine with cinnamon, new, soft leather, and red clay. The entry is wonderful with a bit of further red fruit and hints of forest floor framed by medium+ acidity and accented by barrel spices immediately evoking Finer Pinot noirs from around the globe. The finish reveals infinitesimally small tannins, silky in their presentation against a backdrop of dried strawberries and further barrel spices. For fans of Pinot Noir.

Lot 338 | 2021 Perricone Sicilia DOC
Red berries, red clay, freshly-stirred leaves, and garden herbs define the nose. The entry is dynamic with red fruit, new, soft leather, cherry-kissed acidity, and sun-dried tomatoes uplifted by medium+ acidity and plentiful, dry, grippy tannins. The finish is long with accents of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and freshly-turned soils moving to a light, but persistent vanilla and red fruit umami. For fans of Barbera.

Lot 339 | 2021 Syrah Da Uve Leggermente Appassite Terre Siciliane IGT
Expressive on the nose with red cherries, plum sauce, and black olive haloed by blueberry and tar. The entry is luscious and earthy with delicate leather and bramble interwoven with cigar box and black cardamom, medium acidity, and swept by polished, grainy, horizontal tannins. The finish is long, barrel-kissed, and resonant with blueberry and plum coulis. For fans of Syrah, Amarone, and Ripasso.
