Wine Details & Tasting Notes

*WEATHER PERMITTING - shipments east of the Rockies currently on hold due to frigid temps in the middle of the country.

OG N.126 is the big brother from the sister winery to OG N.125 (which needs a couple more months in bottle). In short, this is the "Reserve" offering from a family of high-end estates in the Anderson Valley (I use the term "reserve" not because the producer does, but to denote this as a higher-end cuvee).

Organic and bio-dynamically farmed, but with a higher percentage of new French oak, this Pinot is produced from select lots pulled from three estate vineyards (each of which produces a SVD priced in the mid-$60's) and sells out of the tasting room in the mid-$40's. Scores on the current 2017 bottling are 92- and 91-points from the Advocate and Enthusiast. Weighing in at 13.4%, its a broadly appealing, deeply complex, wonderfully-flavorful Pinot not to mention an exceptional value at $13/bottle.

Beautiful, translucent garnet in the glass. Smoky black cherry is haloed with rose petal and spicy orange blossom underpinned with blackberry, black tea and forest floor notes. The palate is broad, firmly structured and seamless with juicy-yet-nuanced fruit notable for its excellent fruit/acid tension. Everything here is beautifully proportioned and elegantly rendered with pitch-perfect verve and precision.

Updated Notes August 27th, 2021

N.126 2019 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir - bigger and fleshier, N.126 is the "Reserve" big brother to N.125 and it shows as the wine is still tightly wound and swaddled in baby fat right out of the bottle. It opens up nicely, and would be fantastic with richer fare, but I would hang onto this wine until early 2022 and let some of the tannins resolve. This is a very collectible wine and patience is required.
