Wine Details & Tasting Notes

Today's offering comes to us from a deep-pocketed producer in Washington State. The vineyards and winery were planted/built with one goal in mind - make world-class Cabernet and other Bordelais varietals. No expense was spared in either planting the vineyard or constructing the winery.

However, today's offering is not their Cabernet - that'll come later. Up first is one of my favorite wines from Washington State. This $60+ Horse Heaven Hills Petite Verdot will absolutely knock your socks off at $18/bottle.

Like everything else here, this is no-expense-spared, first-class juice. Deep, rich, and powerful, its a hell of a mouthful of wine for sure but also beautifully nuanced and savory with umami. I cannot recommend this highly enough. More Petite Verdot please Washington State.

Inky and pungent in the glass, ripe with brooding black cherry and black currant peeking through the toasty cocoa and seasoned oak framework. All saddled to a big chunk of solid rock minerality. Pretty florals are a bit subdued but once this gets through bottle shock it'll be impressive. Supple on entry and chewy across the palate with super-smooth tannins leading the lengthy finish. Everything is buttoned-up and dialed-in here, classy and sophisticated with an ample, expansive structure that will unleash its complexity shortly. Should flesh out around June but will be really singing this Fall. Will age nicely over the next 10-15 years.
