Washington State continues to over-deliver!

Today's release comes to us from one of the states pioneers with fruit sourced from one of Washington's earliest planted vineyards. With 92-94 points scores for the 2016 and 2017 bottlings from The Wine Advocate (Dunnock) and Vinous (Tanzer) and a well over $50 price point, this 2018 Walla Walla Cabernet is a ludicrous deal at $12/bottle, $144/case.

Densely packed and muscular but crafted with precision and grace, this classically-styled beauty could use another year in the bottle. Consume over the next 10-15 years.

Opaque and inky with just a peek of crimson around the rim. Black cherry, blackberry and leather brood amidst season french oak, graphite, licorice and dark chocolate. There's a viscous quality to the nose that is nicely accentuated by pretty white florals, menthol and damp earth but there is no escaping the densely-packed, brooding nature of the wine. Dense and firm on entry yet elegant and focused with the fruit nicely balanced against robust yet fine grain tannins. Tightly wound and chock full of stuffing, this wine will need some time in the bottle before blossoming. But this is precision winemaking, blossom it will.
