We've upgraded this already killer case of Pinot Noir to include 2-bottles of 95-Point rated, Ron Noble Reserve Estate Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir that retails for $95/bottle. To clarify this case contains 10-bottles of Lot 234 | 2020 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley and 2-bottles of 2018 Ron Noble Petaluma Gap "Estate Reserve" Pinot Noir.
Lot 234 | 2020 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley From the same producer as Lot 201 Russian River Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Lot 234 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir hails from a legendary Pinot Noir producer whose numerous bottlings are considered a reference for the region.
Their wines typically sell mailing list/tasting room only and have limited retail presence but they can be found for prices between $55-$70+/bottle. This a no-expense spared program utilizing approximately 25% new French oak and sourced from estate vineyards in the gorgeous rolling hills of Russian River benchmark Goldridge and Altamont soils.
I have only been able to purchase Cabernet and Syrah from them in the past. They have offered me some small Pinot lots but those were mostly press wines we weren't interested in; however, various factors collided and we were able to get our hands on a couple hundred cases of first-run Russian River Valley Pinot Noir earlier in the year. The wine is very impressive, nuanced, perfectly-balanced, elegant-yet-potent - just flat out beautiful and 100% classically styled.
You might note the older Lot number...we acquired this wine last Fall but couldn't get glass for this bottling until earlier this year. But then I got so busy both traveling and trying to dig out from the big, end-of-year software transition that it got left behind.
I like to sell wine, however, not warehouse it, so I am going to extend the Tranche One pricing even though the wine has about 8 months in the bottle now.
Lot 234 is now available for just $199/case DELIVERED until its gone! Giddyup!
Deep garnet in the glass bit with vivid purple hues. Boisterous bouquet of fresh, ripe cherry and cranberry is both lovely and pure, beautifully intermingled with forest floor, leather and spicy rose petal notes while darker plum and berry brood underneath with hints of chocolate. Perfect balance and pinpoint precision on the palate with ripe fruit nicely arrayed over chalky tannins and a pretty minerality providing plenty of energy and verve. Finishes long, pure and spicy with raspberry, cherry and chocolatey oak riding pretty mineral notes. Power, precision, and elegance are all here in abundance.
And about that upgrade:
As I said previously, I know Ron from purchasing fruit from his vineyard and have always been a huge fan of the wines that Megan Baccitich (Paul Hobbs former Director of Winemaking) makes for him. Megan is incredibly talented, always nailing the right balance of richness, structure, depth and complexity. 2018 Ron Noble Petaluma Gap "Estate Reserve" Pinot Noir
This is the big brother to the 2018 Estate PN, which is a spectacular wine in it's own right. Same 100% estate, Petaluma Gap fruit source, but this is where winemaking and choosing the best lots really shines. Definitely a worthy upgrade from its sibling.
I was able to get my hands on 75 cases of this wine and am basically just marking it up a touch off of Ron's ex-cellars price to give you access. Sure, its pricier than your average dN offering but I assure you its worth it. Drink now and over the next 4-5 years.
Normally $95/bottle or well over $1,000/case, today I am offering this stellar wine at well over 50% savings at $499/case delivered or just $41+/bottle. Six-packs are available too.
95-Points -Connoisseur's Guide Selected from the estate vineyard’s best blocks and subject to a special cellaring regimen and barrel program that, among other things, includes a higher percentage of new oak, this stunning Pinot fully deserves its “Reserve” designation. While a close-to-voluptuous wine of enormous richness and fruity depth, it boasts the kind of complexity that compels contemplation, and it is impeccably balanced with the careful structure to age and age. It is, withal, a not-to-be-missed, tour de force offering from a winery to watch, and any extra effort its finding demands will be repaid many times over.
93-Points -Wine Advocate Medium ruby, the 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Reserve offers crushed red and black cherry fruit with nuances of bergamot, forest floor and loads of angostura bitters-like accents. Medium-bodied, it's concentrated, layered, silky and super fresh, finishing very long, lifted and floral. Pretty! 270 cases were made.
93-Points -Wine Enthusiast This reserve-level wine from a cool-climate site is weighty and robust in style, with a creamy texture and plenty of upfront fruit intensity. Brooding black cherry and wild strawberry layer over sumptuous notes of cardamom, nutmeg and clove.
