Wine Details & Tasting Notes

This Collector's Case contains four bottles of each of the following wines:

  1. N.90 2018 Walla Walla Merlot
  2. N.91 2018 Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon
  3. N.92 2018 Red Mountain Red Blend

All three come from one of Washington States pioneering vineyards and producers and they all have $50+ price tags.

Priced at $180 for the 12-bottle collection, this is a unique opportunity to purchase, at an incredible price, a fantastic array of powerfully-built Bordeaux reds from some of the best terroir in Washington State in one of the best vintages in decades. If you were to buy these at the winery today, it would be well-over $600 for this assortment!

With six months in the bottle, these muscled beauties are just beginning to unwind - I was not kidding when I said they were powerfully built. Any of them could age for another 10-15 years.

Here are my original tasting notes from the release...they are accurate to this day. All of the wines are unwinding nicely but a good decant is definitely in order:

OG N.90 2018 Walla Walla Merlot - Opaque in the glass and brooding at first, with dusty black cherry fruit poking through the darkness. However, it quickly opens up to reveal pretty violet florals combined with black cherry, blackberry, and mineral with a kiss of toasty oak and baking spice/licorice. Lush on entry but amply structured with concentrated black fruit fanning out across the palate, this wine finishes long and smooth. Powerfully built but supremely harmonious, this wine will age nicely over the next decade but drink well in its youth.

50% new French oak
88% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 2% Grenache
14.7% alc.

OG N.91 2018 Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon - Opaque and inky with just a peek of crimson around the rim. Black cherry, blackberry and leather brood amidst season french oak, graphite, licorice and dark chocolate. There's a viscous quality to the nose that is nicely accentuated by pretty white florals, menthol and damp earth but there is no escaping the densely-packed, brooding nature of the wine. Dense and firm on entry yet elegant and focused with the fruit nicely balanced against robust yet fine grain tannins. Tightly wound and chock full of stuffing, this wine will need some time in the bottle before blossoming. But this is precision winemaking, blossom it will.

82% Cabernet, 5% Petite Verdot, 5% Syrah, 4% Carmenere, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot
50% new French oak, medium toast
14.8% alc.

OG N.91 2018 Red Mountain BDX Red Blend - Opaque and brooding in the glass yet very effusive and redolent with aromas of white flower, iron, plum, and meaty blueberry and blackberry with red rock and black pepper laced throughout. Supple on entry with plum and blackberry spreading out over robust, graphite-and red rock-laden tannins in a long, layered finish. Muscular and savory, this spectacular red blend is perfectly emblematic of Red Mountain AVA.

50% new French oak
35% Merlot, 27% Petite Verdot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc
14.7% alc.
