With six-weeks in the bottle now, Lot 174 2019 Russian River Valley Chardonnay is opening up beautifully! Pure aromas, concentrated flavors, and an elegant structure make it perfect for all day sipping.
The winery and vineyard are located in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley appellation on an uplifted plateau just a stones throw from Kistler and Iron Horse Vineyards. The winery hired a few years ago a very experienced North Coast winemaker to lead the Rennaissance of the brand but COVID put a damper on the export markets as well as their tasting room business. We were able to purchase this Chardonnay as well as a very small Lot of Carneros Pinot Noir for a most excellent price.
Pale yellow in the glass. The bouquet is pure and delineating nicely with flint, river rock, and caramel apple notes with a spicy, candied ginger, ripened Bosc pear, and marshmallow halo. Opening up nicely with plenty more complexity to come. Soft, smooth and elegant on entry soft with ripe pear, a kiss of honey and marshmallow on the mid-palate with a hint of roasted cashew on the finish. The pretty, mineral-driven acidity is nicely attenuated throughout the lengthy, echoing finish. This is a pretty and elegant style of Russian River Chardonnay perfect for all year round drinking.
