Lot 59 | 2018 Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

N.59 Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a vineyard high on Mt. Veeder, over 2,000 feet above sea level. The winemaker is a high-end Napa valley consulting winemaker in the Phillipe Melka mold and the wine sells for between $200 and $225/bottle. It is opening up nicely now and an incredible offer at $35/bottle. I recommend a 24-hour decant for this wine...decant for 2-3 hours and then put it back into the bottle overnight. Of course, the best is ahead of it and this wine will age 20 years easily.

Original tank sample notes: Dark and inky in the glass. The aromas are densely packed and brooding at this stage, pulling you down into the glass and showing lovely and pure cassis and crushed red rock aromas as well as perfect oak integration. But clearly this still just a baby. The palate is surprising voluptuous on entry but also powerful with a big ball of chewy tannins meeting you at mid-stride. Swaddled in baby fat she is, but this will be stunning wine in a few years. Its all there.
