Through industry connections, a call came to our office we just couldn’t resist – access to a single-vineyard Chardonnay from one of the most recognizable names in Sonoma. Lot 484 is a 100% Chardonnay from a premier vineyard whose fruit goes into one of the most prestigious, allocation-only programs in Sonoma known for its classic RRV style.

On the nose, you’ll encounter an inviting bouquet of classic apples and pears, interwoven with subtle garden herbs and a delicate touch of hazelnut before culminating with a hint of starfruit. The palate opens with a beautifully rounded entry, showcasing notes of toast, lemon curd, citrus, and a touch of flint. The wine’s balanced acidity and creamy texture provide a lovely backdrop to a surprisingly prominent minerality, making for remarkable structure. The finish is long and lightly spiced, with an umami-filled exit that further reveals the wine’s intricate palate. Delicious.

A "staple" Chardonnay

"I'm actually drinking this wine as I'm writing this review. What strikes me about this wine and most of the de Negoce RR and Napa chards is the balance of these wines. The nose on the 484 truly represents the palate. The apple, pear and toast are clearly present (especially if you drink your chards at 65-deg like I do, but I can get into that on at a different time) the the finish is not bitter or bite-y, just smooth. It's definitely a value for someone who appreciates Russian River wines."
