Lot 495 is a 93-point James Suckling scored (under our label) estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon with a beautiful Bordelaise heart and New World stylings. We can’t reveal the exact varietal percentages, but the artfully crafted Cabernet core radiates with that signature Alexander Valley balance of power and elegance, while light touches of Malbec, Merlot, and Petit Verdot add complexity and depth - a beauty that’s truly imbued with the soul of the region.

Welcoming aromas of cedar, baking spice, dark berries, eucalyptus, and plum sauce rise from the glass, haloed by graphite and crushed rock. The palate delivers a rustic charm, with dark fruit, turned soils, and clay pot framed by medium acidity and grippy, deftly-integrated tannins. The finish is long, filled with crushed violets, berry coulis, delicate barrel spice, vanilla blossom, and earth. Sumptuous.

Possibly the best QPR cab

"I don't think 495 is the best cab, but it is certainly a steal at $24, and I wish I had bought more than one case when it first came out as a futures offer. But I do have to say that I generally enjoy Alexander Valley cabs. You can't miss with this one."

Finest

"My personal opinion is that this wine vintage is one of the finest wines I have ever tasted in my 80 years. Every bottle I have opened has been superb. But, don't go raising the price on me!"

Impressed!

"My first bottle of 495 came in a mixed case and absolutely impressed me. After a short rest it poured smooth, dark-fruited, and beautifully integrated — classic Alexander Valley character with silky tannins and a cocoa-like finish. I later ordered a full case, and those bottles showed a bit more firmness at first — a temporary drying, cocoa-powder tannin on the front gums that I now recognize as bottle shock. After giving the bottles more time to settle, the wine returned to that same smooth, full-bodied profile I loved in the original bottle. When fully rested, 495 is plush, dark-cherry driven, and wonderfully balanced. A great value Cabernet that rewards a little patience."

Great price point wine. First

"Great price point wine. First taste is fruit forward with light finish. Will improve with a couple years of age."

Good Value

"This is a nice wine for the price. Nothing exceptional but certainly enjoyable. It goes well with a casual meal and is ready to drink now."
