Lot 592 is a single-vineyard old-vine 100% Carignan from a boutique family winery, produced by an old school winemaker that’s been at the craft for decades. Rich, smooth, and enticingly complex, it’s a beautiful expression of the varietal and easily one of the best produced in the states. Our source took an approach rarely seen for Carignan: aging the wine in 100% French oak, delivering a finish of uncommon elegance and refinement.

The bouquet opens with vibrant raspberries layered with savory cured meat, backed by fresh-picked tobacco leaf and new, soft leather. The palate is firmly dry at entry, delivering raspberry reduction, charcuterie, leather, and tobacco. Bolstered by excellent minerality, medium-plus acidity, and grippy, medium-grained tannins, this is a Carignan with a clear capacity for evolution in bottle. A long, dry finish resonates with dried cranberries, raspberries, and baking spice, closing with umami waves of vanilla blossom.

Nice drinkable wine
