Monterey Bay sits at the mouth of the Monterey Channel, an underwater canyon that stretches 250 miles offshore funneling cold water from the ocean depths to the coast. This results in a cooler climate than neighboring stretches of coastline, creating a long growing season that bodes wonderfully well for Pinot Noir.

The fruit for Lot 449 is grown at the winery's estate vineyards, harvested early morning in the same batch of grapes that goes into their Pinot Noir program that routinely garners 93+ points year after year. Made under the watchful eye of a UC Davis-trained winemaker with previous stints in Europe and the Sonoma Coast, the grapes saw four hours of skin contact before pressing, allowing for the fruit’s coastal terroir to shine through and locking in sumptuous strawberry notes (and a sexy pale red tint to boot). Fermented in 100% stainless steel with native local yeasts, this is a proper Rosé through and through – produced with intent and delivering sense of place alongside pure refreshment.

This beautifully tinted wine checks every box on the Rosé list as soon as the aromas hit your nose – strawberries, cherries, and earthy tones are backed by a dried herb bouquet. The palate entry is lively and bright, with additional strawberries cascading across the palate quickly followed by mouthwatering, stony acidity. The finish is bone dry, long and uplifted with delicate red fruits and earth – an utterly quaffable experience.
