Lot 513 is a sublime, 93-point James Suckling scored (under our label) estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon (with a splash of other Bordelaise varieties for added depth – we’re forbidden to disclose specifics), sourced from a winery that is no stranger to gushing critical acclaim and scores in the mid-to-high 90s. In true local form, success hasn’t fazed their approach – this is the latest showcase of a meticulous process and knowledge of the land refined over decades. A powerful exemplar of mountain terroir that aged in French oak barrels (60% new) of the finest cooperage for just under two years.

This beauty opens with a bold nose of deeply concentrated black cherries, cassis, and blackberry jam, haloed by cedar, clay pot, and eucalyptus. The palate unfolds with bramble fruit and supple leather that shifts to baking spice and crushed florals, all framed by medium acidity and fresh, grippy tannins. The finish is powerful and enduring, showcasing wild blackberries, leather, and vanilla bean. A youthful Napa mountain Cabernet that will evolve beautifully, it remains exquisite with a healthy decant if you can’t resist a bottle in the short term.

A True Mountain Stunner!

"A beautiful eucalyptus-forward nose, along with sour cherry, soft fruits and leather, followed by a palate rich in sage, blueberry, saffron, soft blue fruits, with low acidity, very modest tannins, and a slightly too sweet compote finish. An absolute stunner of a mountain cabernet. If mountain fruit is your thing, don’t hesitate to buy by the case. And if it isn’t, buy by the bottle."

Nigel B. (5/5)

Pretty Good. . . but a bit light.

"Generally love the Cabs from the Spring Mountain District and most earn 5 stars. This one was not as rich and full bodied as most, but still pretty good. . . so 4 stars."

Spring Mountain Strikes again

"A deep ruby on the pour. A truly elegant california cab shows wells. Lots of dark stonefruit with a subtle hint of cocoa nibs and licorice. Oak shows well with mellow vanilla and a breath of leather"
