Lot 516 is a 100% estate-grown 92-point James Suckling scored (under our label) gem from a pioneering family whose historic winery and globally acclaimed releases have been a pillar of Napa Valley for generations. Their farming techniques are best in class, and have a reputation for fanatical attention to detail at a level most producers could only dream of achieving. Naturally, their Cabernets are a critical darling – it’s practically a formality to see 90-97 point scores awarded by the major names every year. Taking a low-intervention approach to ensure the terroir shines through, the expert winemakers aged this beauty in ~50% new oak for 18 months, where it blossomed into a tremendously refined Cabernet.

A harmony of dark black fruits, dark chocolate, and baking spices defines the nose, elevated by a halo of eucalyptus, graphite, and tobacco. On entry, a sumptuous medley of blackcurrant, black cherry, and supple leather swirls over medium+ acidity and small, grippy, uniform tannins – an intricate structure that sets the stage for remarkable aging potential. The finish is dry, layered with spice undertones and resonating with vanilla beans, crushed violets and additional dark fruits. Just superb.

Good, but not great

"This is a solid Cab, but doesn't compare to others from DeNegoce."

2022 Oak Knoll Cabernet Sauvignon

"Nice and juicy. Enjoy now but save a few bottles to lay down."

2022 Oak Knoll Cab

"Excellent!"

Great Value

"This is a great wine at the price point. We enjoyed it with a ribeye and it was excellent. It could sit for a few years but it is very good right now."

A Classy Oak Knoll Offering

"A gorgeous nose of clove, tobacco, pomegranate, plum, myrrh, and vanilla. On the palate, pomegranate leads, with plum, spice, leather and vanilla, all supported by medium acidity and small but bright tannins. Classy."

Nigel B. (5/5)

Powerful and striking.

"Another great showing from de Negoce; this had a striking, polished profile with more power than some of the other cabs I've tried from de Negoce. There was a classy dryness on the finish which was very welcome. This will improve with time but is already showing quite well; balanced, composed and classy. Not as racy and enticing as one or two of the other cabs I've had from de Negoce, but polished in a different way - a little more aloof and withdrawn style. Great value for such quality; I bought a couple more."

Intoxicating Cab from Oak Knoll

"Excellent Oak Knoll cab. I would definitely purchase again."

Thomas C. (5/5)

Wowee

"Let this baby open for an hour and wow! Great big spice with medium tanning on the finish. It’s a beautiful thing!"

WONDERFUL OAK KNOLL CAB LOT 516

"Delicious, full bodied cab that needs a bit more time to fully come into itself. We noted a distinct difference after decanting for a few hours. Will definitely purchase again!"
