Lot 530 is a gorgeously crafted, 94-point James Suckling scored (under our label) Cabernet Sauvignon (with a small touch of Petit Verdot) sourced from a producer renowned for sumptuous red expressions worthy of the legend of Oakville. The average price per vineyard acre in these parts is literally enough to buy a house, so the winemaking talent entrusted with the grapes goes without saying (a European-trained master, in this case).

A classic nose boasts dark fruit, savory herbs, spice, and boysenberry coulis haloed by plum, cocoa nib, florals, and a dusting of mocha. On the palate, dark berry pie, bay leaf-infused olive tapenade, and lifted spice are layered over a core of medium+ acidity, showing great ageability amidst plentiful, polished tannins. The enduring finish is dry and resonant, carried by additional dark fruit, crushed florals, and vanilla blossoms. Albeit still swaddled in baby fat, its tremendous potential is already starting to show through – if you plan on drinking this young, a 24-hour decant is highly recommended.

Nicholas J. (5/5)

Serious structured cab!

"Classic Oakville power with polished edges. Blackberry, cassis, and dark chocolate dominate the nose, followed by a rich, full mid-palate. Tannins are firm but ripe, giving the wine structure without harshness. The finish is long, with notes of cocoa and warm oak. A young Oakville Cab with serious pedigree that will reward both early drinking and short-term cellaring."

What a Value!

"Rich and full of wonderful flavors. Great nose. Sipped it over a couple of hours as it opened up. Looking forward to round two."

Roger K. (5/5)

A Complex Cabernet/Verdot Blend…

"A gorgeous purple pour, with a nose of plum, cassis, strawberry coulis, vanilla and olive tapenade, all enhanced by cherry blossom. On the palate, sour cherry, olive, vanilla and spice predominate, with the presence of petit verdot clear. Forward acidity and mellowing tannins add to the oeuvre. Not a hardcore cabernet, the petit verdot making its presence clear - but a sophisticated blend, delicious for those seeking red fruit and higher esters."

Nigel B. (4/5)

Cab with Depth

"The small amount of petit verdot adds depth to this cab. With time it could be even better."
