Lot 543 comes to us from a historic blue-chip winery’s reserve program that specializes in single-vineyard and single-block expressions. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the crown jewels in their award-winning lineup – a sublimely elegant Napa Cab with a true Old-World soul. The series regularly fetches scores in the 90s from the top critics year over year, but the 2021 vintage featured an exceptional level of depth and concentration to the elegance for which Oak Knoll is renowned.

This Cab is dark on the pour, with a nose of black cherries, graphite, crushed stone, eucalyptus, and menthol. On the palate, this wine wears its age well, with a terroir-focused presentation of black currants, wet gravel, leather, and clay dust set within incredible structure and firm acidity that suggests so much more is yet to come. The finish is long and refined, where dry, perfectly integrated tannins reveal further layers of graphite and black cherries evolving into plum and cassis, all elegantly wrapped in vanilla blossoms.

Old world ree

"Very rich and mineral forward. Good balance with stone and gravel or pencil lead. This should age well"

Can't go wrong with Oak Knoll

"Really enjoyed this one. 2021 is a solid year and Oak Knoll never disapoints. Lots of tannins and velvety finish."

Lorenzo A. (5/5)

543 is a 100%

"This is a fantastic wine, Maybe one of the best buys I have made since converting 90% of my wine purchases to D over 2 years ago."

A Classy Oak Knoll Gem

"An absolute gem, dark on the pour, with a warm plum nose and hints of eucalyptus, followed on the palate by blackcurrant, clay, hints of spice, with grippy acidity, marvelously integrated tannins, and a long, long finish. Delicious."

Nigel B. (5/5)

Another excellent Napa bottle

"I’ve had all sorts of wines from De Négoce but they seem to excel particularly with Napa. Every bottle I’ve had from there is excellent t and this one was no different!"

Matthew E. (5/5)

Great!

"A really good cab. I enjoy the Oak Knoll cabs more than the Oakville cabs."

Thomas C. (5/5)

Slightly drab; needs more time to show better.

"This felt slightly drab, with the fruit slightly withdrawn. Better to retry in a few years when it likely will show better. I've had more success from a few other de Negoce wines."

An elegant, concentrated, cabernet gem

"A beautiful, deep inky-crimson pour is followed by a nose of cherry, plum and eucalyptus. The palate has a precision to it that firmly suggests a high-end Bordeaux, with balance and poise that makes you want to keep sampling. Fine acidity, followed by remarkable fruit concentration, reveals warm red stone-fruits, restrained tannin structure, and a comforting (not cloying) jammy finish coupled with vanilla. Needs to be decanted for several hours. A delicious, highly refined Cabernet."

One of the best…

"…and will only get better. 543 drinks like an $80-$100 bottle. It just has an elegant and sophisticated feel and flavor. We served at a dinner party at our home and all were pleased. Read other reviews for the flavor profile description but you can buy with confidence."
