We’ve secured you some of the best on the market – a refreshing 100% estate single-vineyard Pinot Grigio.

Lot 461 comes to us from a family that's been working with experimental white varietals for a tad longer than most folks have been alive: just over 100 years, to be exact. That's five generations of vinous wisdom distilled into every sip. Ordinarily, this wine commands $35/bottle, $420/case direct from the winery before shipping charges. However, an abundance of fruit from the most recent crop prompted our source to rebalance their inventory, granting us the unmissable opportunity.
Our price: $18/bottle.

A color mutation of Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio is similar to its cousin in that it’s thin-skinned and somewhat fickle, requiring a long, cool growing season to lock in natural acidity and realize perfect ripeness. With ancient origins in Burgundy followed by a spread throughout Europe (partially thanks to an oenophile Holy Roman Emperor), this grape has found explosive popularity in Italy during modern times and is currently the second most popular white wine in America.

Some of its finest expressions are now found in the cool maritime climate of Carneros, where it reaches its brilliant potential under the deft touch of our source, whose expertise with the vineyard’s terroir is second to none. Rooted in shallow topsoil transitioning into firm clay, these vines thrive under minimal irrigation and overnight fog, producing certified organic dry-farmed fruit that’s hand-picked early in the morning at precise sugar and acidity levels. The grapes are immediately pressed to minimize contact with the skins and moved into 100% stainless steel tanks, then aged sur lie to elevate the palate and capture Pinot Grigio’s bright floral notes.

The wine awakens the senses with a harmony of guava, pears, peaches, freshly sliced apples, and floral notes on the nose. Palate entry is well-balanced and a touch creamy, opening with Meyer lemons, citrus blossoms, and stone fruit ensconced within uplifted acidity and a crystalline minerality. The finish is long, clean, and expressive, closing with a lingering embrace of spiced apples. Immensely refreshing and highly quaffable, this will both satisfy the veterans among you and also set the Pinot Grigio bar very high for the first-timers.
