Description

Lot 546 is a precision crafted, 100% single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from a revered high-elevation site. Given the program’s reputation, we’ve agreed to keep even the sub-appellation off our label and declassify it to Sonoma County, but make no mistake – this is an utterly marvelous showcase of top-tier mountain fruit. As a staple of a terroir-focused reserve program from a very respected family, it fetches $60/bottle under the original label, but they (like so many others) are rebalancing their inventories. We’ve seized the moment and closed a sweet deal, securing it for our customers at OVER 65% OFF.

A brooding deep ruby in the glass, this wine opens with a focused, terroir-driven nose of crushed granite, black cherry, clay dust, and a kiss of mint. The wine stretches out on the palate with a core of dark fruits and earth tones wrapped in dark chocolate and suede, all framed by balanced acidity and small-grained, grippy tannins. In its youth, the finish is barrel-centric with vanilla and spice, but a bit of air reveals red-to-black fruit hiding underneath. Drink in the near term with a healthy decant, or cellar with confidence for graceful development in the years to come.

Though we’ve released a handful of Sonoma wines from the 2023 vintage, we’ve been patiently hunting for our inaugural Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon from this apex year, and it's finally here!

It was a banner crop for Napa's neighbor. Cool weather locked in acidity, and extended hang time produced grapes with a glorious combination of freshness and concentration. The result? Elegant, balanced wines of exceptional quality. Now that most of the ’23 Cabs have spent about a year and a half in barrel, we’re starting to see some big names reaching out, and we’re not wasting any time! Today, we’re thrilled to announce our debut Sonoma Cabernet acquisition – a fabulous single-vineyard stunner that rivals the finest Cabs from anywhere on the North Coast for under $20 per bottle!

Located in northern Sonoma, this mountain vineyard is rooted to free-draining red volcanic soils, producing smaller, more concentrated grapes. Our source's approach is to let the grapes dictate the style and allow the terroir to sing. Hand-sorted whole clusters were fermented in small open-top tanks, then underwent a lengthy maceration, giving it impressive depth. After pressing, it aged in specially selected 100% French oak barrels (50% new).
