Description

Lot 605 is an American icon, possessing minerality and longevity on par with some of the great white Burgundies. Crafted using the estate’s hallmark restrained-oak approach, this stunner is a showcase of classic Napa Valley concentration with impeccably delicate structure – a gorgeous marriage of elegance and power. Despite all the critical acclaim in the world with nothing left to prove, they continue to produce some of the finest that wine country has to offer, and we were elated to have the opportunity at a few barrels when they decided to “right size” the cellars approaching the end of the year. Starting at $75/bottle in the tasting room and select specialty shops, this fabled Chard is yours today at 75% OFF!

Lustrous gold on the pour, the nose bursts forth with vanilla blossoms, lemon curd, and chalk-lined minerality bolstered by warm spice, apricot, and pears. The palate is both vibrant and supple, its balanced acidity carrying flavors of apple, pear, and fresh butter. Barrel-derived spice and toffee emerge on the midpalate, neatly cut by a bright citrus edge. The finish is enduring and umami-rich, echoing with uplifted spice, florals, and a reprise of its mineral backbone before cresting in endless waves of orchard fruit and gentle vanilla.

Iconic. Monumental. Groundbreaker.

There simply aren’t enough superlatives to describe today’s source estate. They’ve long been a benchmark (some say the benchmark) by which great Napa Chardonnay is judged, having been pioneers of California’s wine renaissance for decades. Their commitment to nuanced expressions that celebrate varietal purity and terroir has always remained steadfast, and of the hundreds of white wines in the history of our program, this release easily ranks among the very top in terms of pedigree. So, what kind of price have we negotiated for this caliber of prestige, you ask? How about $18/bottle?

Our price: $109/6-pack, $18+/bottle!

It might sound like a broken record at this point, but the truth remains the truth: great wine starts in the vineyard. You don’t get world class wine without world class grapes, and in 2024, our source's vineyards produced just that. Hot days allowed grapes to fully ripen and develop layers of flavor, while chilly nights and mornings ensured they locked in ample acidity. A mild fall allowed hand-harvesting at ideal Brix and acid levels. In the cellar, practiced mastery from the deftest of hands guided this beauty across the finish line, and French oak of the finest cooperage (~25% new) provided the final polish without muting the vineyard’s voice.
