***BOTTLING LATE MARCH, SHIPPING SHORTLY AFTER***
Our first white wine release of the year was worth the wait – today’s find comes from a darling of the fine dining circuit and one of the country’s newest AVAs: West Sonoma Coast!
Specifically carving out the coldest, most ocean-exposed sections from the broader Sonoma Coast appellation, this region encompasses the far western ridgelines and mountainsides exposed directly to Pacific winds and fog. Given a long and cool growing season, vineyards here ripen slowly, building brilliant tension, mineral profile, and structure. Home to some of today’s finest Chardonnay winemaking minds that tend to emphasize freshness over richness, it’s no wonder the purists are in love.
Lot 611 is a single-vineyard lightning bolt that’s an exquisite demonstration of cold-climate terroir from one of the region’s standard-bearers. We agreed to terms that included declassifying the printed label in order to secure the deal (and get you an even better price), but this is a 100% West Sonoma Coast stunner that glimmers with all the depth and class that’s rocketed these wines onto white tablecloths everywhere. With original pricing starting in the $70/bottle range, this is one of the more rarefied whites we’ve closed on in recent memory. Now you can see what the fuss is all about and get your hands on a textbook offering of one of the hottest new regions in the country – available today as a Semi-Annual Sale Daily Deal for almost 80% OFF!
Our price: $179/case DELIVERED, $14+/bottle to your door!
The West Sonoma Coast AVA is the very definition of coastal viticulture. It’s not a place of abundance – yields are naturally limited by exposure and site conditions. In 2024, these vineyards were pelted by winter storms, setting the stage for the rest of the growing season: brisk conditions continued through spring, and summer brought just a touch of warmth to ensure full ripeness. The well-drained coastal soils of this site further limited yields, and the grapes that emerged fully showcased the balance for which these grounds are revered. Specific winemaking details must be kept hush hush, but this wine saw a minimal-intervention approach by our source and barrel aging in French oak of the finest cooperage to accent its natural brilliance.
Aromas of lemon curd and churned butter rise from the glass, framed by a whisper of brioche and baking spice. On entry, a sumptuous intersection of golden apples, vanilla, and minerality are supported by fine acidity and a touch of spice, lifted by a smooth texture that glides through the palate with ease. A lingering finish leaves you wanting more as it exits with light florals and a flicker of spice. Equally delicious as a solo sipper or on your dinner table.
