Lot 305 | 2016 Listrac-Medoc Red Wine 750ml (93-points)

Lot 305 | 2016 Listrac-Medoc Red Wine 750ml (93-points)

$40/bottle under the original label

With both the 2016 and 2018 vintages of this wine scoring across the board either 91- or 92-points from Vinous, Decanter, the Wine Enthusiast and James Suckling, this is an incredible opportunity to score a mixed-vintage case of Listrac-Medoc reds for just $199/case. The 2016 was awarded 93-points from Neal Martin for the Wine Advocate.

Both the 2016 and 2018 vintages are notable as exceptional and, perhaps, legendary. Only time will tell.

Big, rich, ripe and chewy, with tremendous backbone as well as precision, I specifically negotiated this Bordeaux deal for you guys because this exceptional property's modern style is perfect for Napa Cabernet-lovers. I know you love your Napa Cabernet's big and bold, so here is your chance to own the high-scoring Bordeaux equivalent for well less than half of its $40/bottle list price.

Listrac-Medoc is in the heart of the left bank between Margaux and St. Julien and is generally considered a lesser region due to the clay and limestone soils. However, there are a few Chateau that sit high atop the gravelly plains and produce a whole other level of quality for the region and some of the best values in Bordeaux.

Lots 305 and 306 hail from one of those Chateau and represent the fantastic 2016 and 2018 vintages. These are wines of richness, backbone, and precision. 24-hour decant for near term consumption (though the 2016 is a bit more evolved, as you can imagine). These will age gracefully for another 20+ years. I have had these open on my desk for over a week now and they are still fresh and continue to improve.

Lot 305 2016 Listrac-Medoc - deep purple in the glass, just a shade off of opaque. Amazingly fresh bottle bouquet with violets, black fruits and scorched earth opening up to reveal vanilla-specked graphite, blueberry syrup, leather and walnut notes riding a core of riverstone minerality and a pretty clove perfume. Chewy on entry with juicy blackberry fruit riding robust, mineral and tobacco-laced tannins that melt on your palate to unfurl a 30-40 second finish punctuated by a lovely violet and rock perfume.
