Lot 385 | 2019 St. Helena/Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Lot 385
2019 St. Helena/Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep ruby in the glass. The bouquet is so redolent with blueberry jam, ripe blackberry and beautifully-integrated chocolatey new oak you can practically taste it. With air, raspberry candy, red rock and cassis-driven florals complex the bouquet, but the lush umami of the chocolatey oak embracing the fruit really steals the show. Wonderfully complex, the bouquet itself is worth the price of entry and hints at things to come. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet supple and expressive on entry with ripe, chewy tannins carrying gobs of black and blue fruit, toffee and chocolate in an epic finish that resonates with fruit and oak for a good minute or two. Still pretty wound up but very well-balanced with huge length, this classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific example of the stellar 2019 vintage in Napa Valley. It will drink well now and into the future!

Great now! Will improve with additional cellaring.

"I realize that this 2019 has less than 10 months in the bottle, but, I just had to sample it. So, 24 hour decant. Full bodied and hefty! Nose has some complexity with very ripe fruit evident. It gave me a good buzz & a black tongue 👅! I didn’t finish it, until the next night. This is a double yum 🍷!!! On Day 2, zero deterioration, you can age this big beautiful CS for many more years. Scott with Prime grade Grilled & smoked Pichana (Sirloin Cap)😋"

Outstanding. Drinking well now, but

"Outstanding. Drinking well now, but has the stuffing to age beautifully. A big wine that will go great with a steak now. Cassis and black fruit on the nose. Long finish. Great wine, especially for the price."

Moon Mountain

"As good as it gets"

Full bodied and easy to drink

"Tasted amazing smooth right out of the bottle but was spectacular after a 2-hour decant. Deep garnet color, exquisitely aromatic. Will continue to age well for years to come."

Good Cab

"I believe it just needs more time in the bottle to become a very good Cab."

Not the highest QPR, but

"Not the highest QPR, but certainly one of the better dN’s I’ve purchased."

Steakhouse Wine

"Receiving a $5 credit for this unbiased review. One of my favorite de Negoce wines to date. This is a bigger wine with great balance and a little chewy. Its fruit forward without being jammy, the tannins are there but not over powering. The finish entices you for the next sip. It benefits from a 1 hour plus decant. My original notes said I would be satisfied spending $100+ for this in a restaurant and believe it competes well against $50-$75 Napa Cabs. My score 92pts"

Young but Promising Rutherford Cab

"Drank after 24hr double decant on Thanksgiving. A sip on decanting was blindlingly primary, but the next day things had coalesced into a really nice look at where this wine is headed. Fine tannins and a long finish make me think this will be a huge QPR win with more age."
