The Russian River AVA is perfect for Chardonnay: cool, foggy nights; warm days; the ocean breeze blowing up through the Petaluma Gap; and the legendary, sandy Goldridge loam. These conditions create a long growing season that produces fruit with vibrant acidity, resulting in wines of incredible length.
Lot 408 is 100% single-vineyard Montrachet & Wente clone juice aged in 100% Francois Freres barrels with 55% new wood, rounded out with 100% malolactic fermentation making for an expertly weighted palate experience with added complexity.
More Chablis leaning on the nose with white florals, lemon and lime peels, and a chalky minerality complexed by star fruit, flint and toast points. The entry is deftly structured with hyper-balanced acidity and a near-perfect viscosity to almost feel weightless while Bosc pear, further white blossoms, and lemon cleanly evaporate into a brush of vanilla and spice. The finish has great length with uplifted floral and citrus umami that rests back into waves of vanilla, buttered toast, and lemon oils.
