Lot 409 | 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Lot 409
2021 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

750ml

$75/bottle under the original label

This is a fantastic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon; quintessentially opaque and dark-fruited with a sexy, nervy structure overlaid with some killer componentry, finessed to perfection with a little blending magic (6% Cab Franc, 4% Merlot).

Deep and dark, just on the edge of opaque; classic 2021 extraction. The bouquet is sexy with a good mix of high tones and rich fruit - ripe black cherry, raspberry, toffee, chocolate and cedar aromas are effusive and well delineated. The wine is robust and chewy on entry with big, grainy tannins that unfurl a mix of red and black fruits over a medium full-bodied structure with excellent energy and verve. This is a wonderful Cabernet with a lively mineral core, robust fruit, and terrific oak integration. Seamlessly structured, it delivers length, purity, and precision - hallmarks of the excellent 2021 vintage.

A nice, useful "A-" wine. nothing special though.

"So how is this wine holding up? It's Aug of 2025, and I bought a case in the end of 2024. Right now it's drinking really well. I'm getting a lot of primary fruit on the nose (black fruit) but not a lot of oak-influence. Tannins seem very laid back. . . like it's not going to get any better. Is it as it's peak? IDK, but it might be. A solid wine and I don't regret buying it. But. . . if they still had some available, I would not buy more. I give this wine a 92, or an "A-". LOTS of "A-" wines out there at this price. I can pop down the local and pick up a 92 point wine for same price any day of the week. I would be super disappointed to the suggested price ($75) in the dN write-up. Seems to me that a lot of CA. producers want to charge "A++" prices for "A-" wines, and most informed consumers won't pay it. That would explain why they are bulldozing grape vines and planting other crops in California wine country."

"Drinks well. Price to Quality Ratio winner."

Quiet Winner!

"A well balance, perfectly smooth wine great for sipping throughout the evening. Wasn't sure but gave it a 2-3 hr decant."

Why I like de Negoce

"What I really like about de Negoce wines is the write ups that tell the story of the wine. When you describe the geography for the grapes in each lot, I feel like I am getting a real education of what makes a good wine. Now I can actually compare why I like one more than the other. I am in a Wine club and I can't wait to put together a tasting of 4 wines from the same area but in different growing conditions. Should be fun."

Robust and Chewy

"I really enjoyed the flavors, from popping the cork and smelling the yumminess to tasting the refined flavors. Better the second day."

Masterful dN Blending

"So, I bought another 6 bottles of this 2021! The intriguing blend includes 10% of #401! Also, some Pritchard Hill CS. The geographic comparison to delicious #17, Wow! Still less than a year in the bottle, with more cellar time, this could develop into a 5 Star, double or triple Yum! 🍷🍷/🍷?"

Great Flavors

"As the cork is popped, the rich aromas leap to the nose. The structure is well defined. This is a keeper."

Needs to Open More

"This was my first case of De Nogce wine. I was wildly impressed with all the bottles I received; however this bottle opens up and taste better the following day."
