Lot 423 | 2022 Alexander Valley Zinfandel 750ml

Lot 423
2022 Alexander Valley Zinfandel

$50/bottle under the original label

Lot 423 is declassified icon-level single-vineyard sourced with notoriously low yielding fruit, handled masterfully by a decorated winemaker. Produced in a state-of-the-art production facility, inoculated with local, native yeasts, then aged in all neutral American oak as a homage to the source's classic single-vineyard bottlings from this site in years past.

Pale ruby and very expressive on the pour, the nose is very pretty with red bramble fruit, herbs, and strawberries wrapped in cigar box, fresh cut dill, black peppercorns, and a full spice rack. The entry is exceptionally built with uplifted spice, rosemary, and strawberry compote framed by cranberry-like acidity washing away to leave firm, well integrated tannins - this is not a dark, overly jammy Zin, but an elegant and uplifted one. The finish is dry, and with great length; resonant strawberries accent vanilla and further, uplifted spice rack notes.

Really good Zin

"Great zin that I think will age well for 5+ years. Good structure, strong oak that should settle with more time in the bottle."

Robert S. (4/5)

Easy enough

"Lacking in any major complexity but inoffensive at the same time. I'll happily open another as a weakening drinker, but I'll direct my future purchases elsewhere."

Jonathan C. (3/5)

VERY GOOD ZIN

"This is an very enjoyable zin that with time maybe a 5 star."

Kathleen C. (4/5)

Nice Brambly Zin

"This field blend zin opens with bright brambly red fruit and spice, a bit forward. As it airs, darker fruit and a touch of earthiness provide some bottom. Never jammy or dark, it remains of moderate weight on the red fruity side throughout. Easy to drink. Good now, probably better with some age."

John S. (4/5)

Zin

"4.5 Very crunchy and red fruited zin, no question worth the tariff and enjoyable with and without food, I have had many a GServille which led to the purchase and it is not that but good enough to be happy I bought"

"A well crafted Zin with the subtle notes of Petite Sirah which accents the hint of strawberry at the start and a touch at the finish. Very nice."
