Lot 435 is 100% French oak aged Yountville fruit rooted to gravelly silt loams and alluvial soils blended with an Oakville site composed of iron clay with scattered deposits of sandy loam. A temperate Mediterranean climate blankets both regions, combining inland warmth with coastal cooling, making for fruit of exceptional depth and color coupled with perfectly dialed acidity. Blindfolded you'd swear this was Rutherford for its noticeably dusty qualities.
Red cassis dominates the nose with blackberries and a halo of eucalyptus brushed by red clay dust, sweet tobacco, and crushed florals. The entry is filled with juicy red-to-black fruit accented with cola in a dusty valley floor presentation; perfectly integrated medium-grained, grippy tannins are framed by medium+ acidity with good complex. The finish is still a touch youthful as ’21s tend to be; barrel influenced vanilla blossom and baking spices lay atop red fruit umami in a long, dry finish.
