Lot 447
2022 Red Hills Cabernet Sauvignon

750ml

$80/bottle under the original label

Lot 447 comes to us from a Napa house that can’t get enough of this fruit. They use it in both a single-vineyard expression and in their proprietary red blend, but a slowdown in tasting room and wine club traffic, plus an influx of ’23 fruit had them trimming programs so we got the call. We tasted through a selection of their wines, and this one blew us away.

Dynamic nose of black cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, new leather, with roasted red bell peppers underpinned. Fully integrated on the palate, incredible structure, and juicy, dark red fruits are framed by good acidity and grippy, plush tannins. The wine is still a touch youthful, however, waiting to fully unfold. The finish is dry and resonant with red-to-black fruit and dried herbs that carry on with great length amidst flecks of vanilla.

light Cab

"This Cab was light to medium body with a very mild bouquet. Hardly any legs on the glass. Almost seems like this wine was watered down. Disappointed!"

Nicely surprised by this !

"Really nice wine despite initial notes to say to wait on this one. Aromas of berries, herbs. . . and bold flavors. Very nice day 1. Subsequent bottles have only gotten better, richer and more well rounded. These arrived in April 2024 and I've already added more because this is just a really nice week night wine. Highly recommend !"

Marjie K. (4/5)

Improving!

"This is turning into a solid cab with prominent dark fruit flavors. 2 hour decant was essential."
