Lot 485
2023 Monterey County Pinot Noir

750ml

$40/bottle under the original label

This gem hails from Monterey County, a chilly region with a reputation for producing elegant, highly regarded Pinots with remarkable consistency. As is typical with this region, the combination of quality and value is on full display. Lot 485 is a 100% estate-grown Pinot Noir with Burgundian leanings, sourced from a winery that's been a staple of the Monterey Pinot scene for decades.

On the nose, aromas of rose petal, raspberry coulis, and mushrooms are accented by dried strawberries and forest floor. Upon entry, cherries and strawberry sauce intermingle with dried leaves, framed by balanced acidity and small, crushed tannins. A long, dynamic finale begins with a spiced wave, settling into red berries and a kiss of vanilla before rose hips and vanilla bean overtake the umami.

Awesome Pinot Noir!

"This has been our "best find" yet on De Negoce. Delicious fruit forward cherry notes with moderate body and balanced tannins. We have purchased 3 cases of this wine and paired against many of our $50 Santa Lucia Highlands and Willamette Pinots and this wine at 1/3 the price holds its own. YUM!"

New to me but wonderful

"This one's a step outside my usual lane — I tend toward heavier reds, and Pinot Noir is lighter and earthier than what I normally reach for. That said, it's easy to like: soft red fruit, a little earthiness underneath, nothing that needs cellaring. It's ready to drink now, and it's a nice change of pace if you're used to bigger, heavier wines."

Monterey Pinot Noir

"My wife and I had this with a grilled salmon and loved it! A light pinot with cherry flavors, great mid palate with smooth finish. A delishish pinot noir!"

Great Pinot

"Light, crisp, nice fruit over tones. Little hint of sweetness"

Nice Pinot

"I was concerned because I don’t usually like Monterey Pinot, this Pinot was OK but not my favorite. I’d probably rate it as a 3. 7. For me there are so many really good Pinot’s I wouldn’t order this again. Just kind of lack luster."

Not bad, but not for me

"This is a heavier pinot than I am used to. Not for me, but still a decent sip."
