Lot 515 | 2022 Spring Mountain District Proprietary Red 750ml

Lot 515
2022 Spring Mountain District Proprietary Red

750ml

Over $150/bottle under the original label

Lot 515 is a 91-point James Suckling scored (under our label) exercise in sheer winemaking brilliance – given carte blanche and an empty canvas, our source began with a Cabernet Sauvignon backbone and seamlessly fused it with select Bordelaise varietals and percentages that they keep a closely guarded house secret. The lots were settled separately into a no-expense-spared 100% French oak regimen. After just shy of two years in barrel, the winemakers went about fashioning the blend, producing a divine marriage and formidable showcase of mountain terroir.

Tempting aromas of plum and cassis dance out of the glass, joined by layers of cherry reduction, a medley of dried herbs, tobacco, and crushed gravel. The entry is impeccably balanced between concentrated mountain fruit, medium+ acidity reminiscent of black cherries, and young, grippy tannins. The finish is exquisite, with elevated fruit and spice leading into vanilla blossoms and crushed iris unfolding in waves of complexity. The mountain DNA and immaculate construction of this wine promise a long, rewarding evolution in the cellar. When the moment comes, do yourself a favor and pair it with the finest cut of beef you can get your hands on.

We Loved It!

"Smooth, balanced and INCREDIBALY easy to drink! This blend brings together mountain fruit and a polished texture that makes it a crowd pleaser."

Nelson (5/5)

Very fine

"Great balanced profile w/o a decant. Open to breath, a swirl in the glass, this is really terrific! More complexity in the years to come I suppose, but I'm liking it now!"

Erik E. (5/5)

My all-time favorite varietal from de Negoce

"Sadly, it is out of stock. But this was the gem of gems"

Jonathan B. (5/5)

Surprised

"I have one shelf in my wine cooler that is labeled OK for drinking now (so my wife knows what to open if I'm not around). One night she poured me a glass of wine that was off the charts good. I asked if she took it from the OK shelf. She said no, I though any shelf under OK was ready to drink. So instead of getting lot 529 that we've been drinking, I was surprised with some fine juice of the proprietary red 515."

Solid table wine. Fruit forward.

"Solid table wine. Fruit forward. Definitely need to be opened 20-30 minutes before drinking"

Spring Mountain Cabernet

"A very good Cabernet might need a little more time in the cellar, but highly recommended."

George N. (5/5)

Another great one!

"This spring mountain wine is one that you will really enjoy. It tastes like a very expensive wine and the finish is smooth. I think this one could be enjoyed for years to come."

Well balanced red for a steak dinner

"This is the best bottle that have opened to date. The nose is aromatic. This is medium body with ripe fruit forward and a hint of tobacco. I decanted for about 20 min prior to drinking - it needed a little longer to open with the younger age, which should be possible with the tannins. I had opened a bottle of 2012 Spring Mountain Elivette the night before - this lot 515 seemed to be slightly watered down in comparison and had a much shorter finish. Still overall a good value at the price point."

A Super-Classy Gem.

"A gorgeous purple-red pour delivers a nose of plum, cherry, and herbs, including tarragon and basil. On the palate, there is warm complex mountain fruit in abundance, with balanced acidity, and wonderfully integrated tannins. This wine screams class, class, class - the fact that no expense was spared in its creation is abundantly clear. Not just a superb wine, this represents incredible value for money."

Smooth and full of body.

"Love this prop red. I have 6+ different de negoce red wines at this price point or a bit higher and this is the one I bought another case of. I talked my brother into buying a case as well. It’s a beauty - full bodied enough to drink with a steak, smooth enough to sip solo."
