Lot 517 is a 100% single-varietal Petit Verdot from a family-owned multigenerational Rutherford estate with a cult following for their intricately crafted small-batch wines. They have the winemaking chops to take on this tricky grape, and their stellar reputation has given them access to some of the finest Petit Verdot vineyards in the country. Aging the wine in medium toast 100% French oak resulted in a Petit Verdot with actual refinement – bold, but not over-the-top.

Deeply colored as a good Petit Verdot should be, this is not an ink bomb – a testament to a meticulous extraction by skilled winemakers. The nose opens with pomegranate, chocolate, blackberry coulis, and uplifted cranberries, haloed by white pepper and fresh mint. On the palate, mocha and cherries coalesce with layers of spice and silky, plentiful tannins, all framed by medium+ acidity. A dry, barrel-driven finish of caramel, spice, and vanilla resonates over great length.

A Beautifully Structured Petit Verdot

"We loved this one! This Petit Verdot is structured with dark fruit, depth, and a surprisingly smooth mouthfeel. One of the wines that feels both bold and refined. We immediately bought more of this!"

First Class Petit Verdot

"Always like to try the wines that are normal used in blends, Petit Verdot, Tannat etc. Very enjoyable wine almost as good as your Tannat which is sadly gone, but this ranks very high in the Petit Verdot’s that I have had. 5stars. Nice find!"

Mike R. (5/5)

Unique and Worth a Try

"If you haven’t had a Petite Verdot before, don’t be afraid. I have had many as I love all the different red varietals. This one is very good and can be enjoyed by itself or with anything coming off the grill."

Wonderful Petit Verdot

"I love Petit Verdot and this is an excellent reason why. Deep ruby in the glass with great dark fruits on the nose. My first sip was loaded with dark cherries (chocolate would go nicely here!). The finish is long and smooth. This will go nicely with the top sirloin steaks I have on the grill. I am really happy that I ordered a case."

JP B. (5/5)

Delicious

"Very good bottle of wine"

Charlie B. (5/5)

Fabulous Verdot

"Thoroughly enjoyable petite Verdot. I received a bottle from a friend and enjoyed it so much that I ordered more from the bottle shop. Yountville is a fabulous region in Napa and it’s not surprising that this gem was made there."
