Lot 520
2022 Russian River Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

750ml

Around $65/bottle under the original label

Lot 520 is a single-vineyard, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon brimming with concentrated bramble fruit and dark cherry acidity, with incredible structure to boot. Crafted in an obviously old school style by old school winemakers, the precious juice was carefully aged for almost two years in French oak, making sure the fruit’s unique character and terroir would shine through. Our boutique source's hyper-local distribution means this offering rarely makes it beyond their tasting room or wine club.

Aromas of bramble, raspberry coulis, and plum abound on the nose, haloed by eucalyptus and herbs before making way for delicate crushed violets dancing underneath. Rich upon palate entry, a core of dark fruits is enlivened by vibrant black cherries, while new leather is interwoven with medium acidity and polished-yet-chewy tannins – the incredible structure of this wine can’t be overstated. The finish is both enduring and complex, where resonant red fruits merge seamlessly with crushed florals, granite minerality, and waves of toasty vanilla. A stunning wine tailored to elevate your steak dinners.

Reviews

Great all around

"This wine is big enough to be paired with most of the traditional dishes you would expect. Its also smooth enough to drink on its own or with some light hors d'oeuvres. A great all around wine and value."

Brian J. (5/5)

Good value

"Not as bold as my favorite cabs, I find this lot to be a little subtle. I enjoyed it with roasted pork."

Doug H. (4/5)

A firm structure.

"Rated 90 points: This came across a bit too firm for my taste, though was good value. One to revisit in about five years."

John M. (3/5)

13. 9%. Medium ruby purple, no

"13. 9%. Medium ruby purple, no sign of age. Generous nose on PnP. Leather, cigar box, bit of oak. Nice fruit. Round and open on the palate. Ready for business. Restrained, but mouthfilling fruit. Impeccably balanced. Really good. Tart juicy finish with modest tannins. This is more evolved than I would expect. I just love the 13. 9% fruit, old school. Ordinarily with that abv I'd expect it to be good for the long haul, but it's so open now that I just don't know. But for a good near-term drinker I think it's massive qpr"

I love this wine for ever day

"I have become a big Sonoma fan for everyday sipping. Not as bold and heavy as big Napa cabs that I use for pairing. This wine has a beautiful nose but still earthy and smooth, with slight acidity. Dark fruits but not overbearing withe a smooth aftertaste. Still good for pairing with most everything we eat in Texas, but I love sipping every day because of it's consistency."

Cline Y. (5/5)

Solid Cab

"This is another fine DeNegoce find. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is I've had some spectacular Cabs and this one was only really, really good."

Nicholas J. (4/5)

Very good wine

"This was a very good and solid cab, but did not stand out as much as some of the other wines I have tried from here."

Megan R. (4/5)

Different in a good way

"Weeknight cab, no complaints at all! In fact, the variations in aromas/taste from your typical cab made us pleased to have gotten this one."

Tyler (4/5)

Great wine!

"Bold flavor, taste great with cheese & crackers!"

Rupal P. (5/5)

With or without food, fabuloys

"Great wine! Always thought Pino and Chards were planted in the valley, nice surprise. Full body with loads of fruit and fabulous nose. It’s worth Every penny!"
