Lot 555 | 2023 Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Lot 555
2023 Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

750ml

Well over $250/bottle under the original label

Lot 555 is an estate-grown masterwork, crafted entirely with Cabernet Sauvignon from small vineyards rooted to the area's signature high-elevation volcanic soils. The vines produce sparse clusters of tiny, immensely concentrated berries, and under the expert guidance of a winemaking team with multiple 100-point scores in its pocket, are transformed into an intricately structured, supremely elegant, and cellar-worthy expression of singular terroir.

Dense on the nose, the fragrance lures you into the glass with deep layers of red fruit, currants, and cassis, framed by peony, iris flowers, and a halo of eucalyptus. The palate opens with intense structure – dark fruits and new leather are supplemented with baking spice, vanilla bean, and vibrant acidity, while chewy, seamlessly integrated tannins assert themselves throughout. The wine glides into a long, resonant finish, where youthful barrel character currently holds sway over a well of fruit and earth components behind a wave of vanilla beans – a promise of graceful evolution over the next decade and beyond.

An Absolute Stunner

"Lot 555 leads with an inviting nose of red fruit, and a distinctive floral quality. On the palate 555 excels; firm tannins underscore a rich, intense, warm, and complex blend of dark fruits, leather, vanilla, and savory spice, with a deliciously long finish. Substantive aging potential, but if you like assertive tannins (as I do) then this wine will bring much pleasure today. As expected, a good decant is well worthwhile."

Very Notable & Enjoyable

"This Diamond Mountain Cabernet feels like a wine that knows exactly where it comes from. There’s a deep core of dark fruit ie blackcurrant and plum mostly, balanced by subtle cedar and a light touch of mountain herbs. It doesn’t try to impress with sheer power; instead, it draws you in with its focus and freshness. The tannins are firm but well-behaved, giving the wine shape without rough edges. It’s thoughtful and quietly confident, a cab that makes an impact. Hopefully it will survive in my cellar to enjoy later :)"

The new Gold standard

"I missed on this when it first came out, when it came back it took me about 60 seconds to secure a 6 pack. Iconic by every means."
