Lot 588 is a gorgeous Left Bank-inspired wine from a multigenerational family-owned estate. Exact percentages of the final blend would give away the source, but it’s primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, enhanced with a couple of carefully selected Bordelaise varietals. Crafted from estate vineyards by a winemaker whose experience working in the AVA is rivaled by few, this wine is a signature offering that’s equally appropriate at a posh steakhouse or as an evening sipper in the comfort of home.

A deep, expressive nose leads with blackberries and currants, swirling over a strong mineral spine layered with chocolate, wet gravel, and eucalyptus. On the palate, refined red-to-black fruit is framed by new, soft leather and earth amidst medium+ acidity. Velvety tannins lend grace to the wine’s architecture, while a barrel-kissed long finish reveals baking spice, leather, additional black fruit, and vanilla bean umami.

Reviews

Full bodied cabernet.

"This cab has a rich mouth feel and a nice finish. It's better after a one hour decant."

Stephen I. (5/5)

WONDERFUL!

"This one's exactly the kind of red I go looking for. Rich, ripe black fruit up front with tannins that are smooth rather than gripping — no need to let it sit in the glass for twenty minutes before it opens up. Alexander Valley Cabs have a reputation for being generous and approachable, and this one lives up to it. If you like California Cabernet with some weight behind it, this is a safe, satisfying pour. Oh, and if you have a good aged cheddar…. . even better!"

Another great QPR Cab

"In general, the Alexander Valley is to me a good place to search for QPR Cabs (unlike Napa for example) and when you get the 'de Negoce' discount it makes it even that much better. Very balanced wine, and for this price a good Tuesday or Wednesday pour with a steak or steak salad. Can't beat it."

Brian N. (5/5)

Perfectly balanced

"Definitely is a wine that I have reordered! Love to always have this on hand for entertaining!"
