Lot 564 is a classically styled flagship bottling from a first-rate Silverado Trail estate. Their all-star winemaking team puts together a slightly different blend each vintage to get the best possible result, and their 2023 offering is as good as it gets. It’s a beauty of a wine that features primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with a light touch of two other Bordelaise varietals. The trained palate will recognize a meticulously structured Rutherford core, accented by mountain fruit in a supporting role. Consistent scores in the 90s from top critics are a formality each year.

Black cherries and currant leap out of the glass. A second whiff reveals graphite and mocha, followed by eucalyptus and violets. The palate exemplifies classic Napa stylings: blackcurrant, tobacco, dark cherries, and pencil lead are framed by excellent acidity, revealing plentiful, uniform full-grained tannins. The finish is persistent and elegant, with delicate waves of spice, red fruit, and crushed florals, settling into a poignant stillness of fresh vanilla bean.
