Lot 579 is a 100% estate-grown single-vineyard Pinot Noir from a bona fide legacy benchmark estate. Very Burgundian in style and striking a harmony between opulence and grace, this is a crystal-clear expression of a hallowed site, with a long history of top scores from a litany of critics. Currently an allocation-only wine, alert collectors might occasionally get lucky when it pops up on the secondary market (where top rated vintages go into the triple digits).

Delicately perfumed on the nose, the bouquet opens with cherries and forest floor layered with sage, anise, and rose hips, underscored by accents of brown sugar and red licorice. On the palate, an expertly balanced wine finds beautiful tension between terroir and red fruit, with a refreshing acidity and deftly weighted texture. Velvety tannins carry the wine towards a youthful, focused finish marked by echoes of red berries, iris, vanilla, and spice. Still in the earliest stages of its evolution, it should reach its sky-high potential after a few years of cellar time.
