Lot 607 is an estate-grown 100% Merlot expertly crafted by one of the great pioneering families with over half a century of winegrowing history in the valley. That experience shows with every drop – an archetypal expression of the grape, there is so much varietal character here that checks every box, amplified by a no-expense-spared wood program. It’s radiant, velvety, and in typical 2024 vintage fashion – packed with power. Fair warning, though: once you’ve had Merlot at this level, it may permanently raise your standards.

Bury your nose in the glass for a rush of fresh and just-reduced blueberries, accompanied by mint, eucalyptus, white florals, and dried herbs. The palate carries the blue fruit core into cocoa, supple new leather, and barrel spice, supported by chewy, plentiful tannins, bright acidity, and impressive structural balance. The finish is long and resonant, with cherry inflections joining blue fruit alongside vanilla, baking spice, blossoms and allspice. If you pop one in the near term, a healthy decant will do you wonders, but don’t be afraid to lay some bottles down – this wine has genuine cellar potential.
