Lot 615 is a sleek, powerful estate Cabernet from what could be very conservatively described as a “major player.” Crafted from a blend of valley floor and hillside fruit, it’s a dazzler of a red wine – beautiful structure and powerful concentration go without saying, given it’s sourced from one of the most coveted Cabernet locales in the world. Depending on where you’re shopping, the most well-connected civilians might be lucky to score this starting at the $120/bottle mark, and you could easily find it for twice that. But this buyers’ market has given us the opportunity to quietly nab it out the side door for well over 80% OFF!

Beautifully dark on the pour, the nose opens with outstanding poise, marrying power and restraint from the very first impression. A core of red-to-black fruit reduction, raspberry coulis, and fresh-picked blackcurrant unfolds alongside notes of eucalyptus, violet, dried herb bouquet, and an ever-present crushed rock minerality. On the palate, layers of currant, raspberry, and dark cherry coalesce with cedar, chocolate, and a drop of iodine. Bright acidity and velvety, perfectly integrated tannins frame this sumptuous showcase of Napa’s Grand Cru region, and the finish is one of the best we’ve encountered this year – French oak-infused vanilla meets baking spice and crushed violets, elevating the dark fruit to new heights before settling back into elegant floral tones on a nearly endless close.

That last Stags Leap Cab was a hit (and over 90% sold out, so make sure to claim yours if you haven’t yet). But we did mention the last few months have seen a slew of jaw-dropping acquisitions from a list of illustrious names you probably wouldn’t even believe, so let’s introduce another bombshell into the mix.

Today’s Cabernet offer was acquired at a price that would’ve been unthinkable even a year ago from this producer – to be honest, we would have been happy to pay more for a wine this impressive, but the market is the market, and the better a price we can negotiate, the better the savings we can pass on to you. And what a savings on this one – $23/bottle for Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the most respected producers in the industry?! Any Michelin restaurant that considered serving pours of this would be charging far more for a single glass!

No. Expense. Spared. Their vineyards are farmed meticulously with only sustainable inputs. Cellar treatment is precise, but not unnecessarily tricked out – sensible, you might say, especially with fruit of such caliber. Extended maceration and about 20 months in 100% French oak elevates the wine beautifully…and that’s about all we can disclose on the winemaking front.
