Lot 651
2024 Diamond Mountain Proprietary Red 6-pack
Gold Medal, Denver International Wine Competition (under our label)
Lot 651 is a high-elevation jewel from a celebrated institution on the mountain. An ultra-exclusive bottling that showcases the full breadth of world-class vineyards and the otherworldly talents of some of the most highly acclaimed winemakers anywhere, on pedigree alone this could easily be the most impressive red in anybody’s cellar. It’s certainly not something we normally see on the market – this is literally the first Prop Red from this AVA we’ve ever acquired, and we’re approaching 700 Lots! There are barely 10 wineries in the entire appellation and you can comfortably count on one hand how many of them currently offer a Prop Red way into the triple digits, so unsurprisingly the exact specs must remain hush hush to keep our source happy and secure the deal. But as always, the proof is in the pudding, and you’ll discover it for yourself when that liquid magic hits your glass. An apex Diamond Mountain cuvée for $31/bottle?! Taste and believe.
Dusty red fruit, dark cherries, and dried garden herbs rise from the glass, gradually revealing deeper notes of plum and black fruits while eucalyptus and cedar ride the edges with a hint of cocoa powder. Full-bodied and richly layered on the palate, a dark core of boysenberries, blackberries, blueberry compote, and cassis is accented by mocha and supple leather. Vibrant acidity lends freshness and definition, while perfectly integrated tannins provide ample structure. A long, resonant finish unfolds with toasty barrel influence, dark berries, and freshly ground coffee before making way for waves of vanilla and espresso umami. Sensational.
