Lot 209 | 2018 Napa Valley "Hillside" Sauvignon Blanc 750ml

Lot 209 | 2018 Napa Valley "Hillside" Sauvignon Blanc 750ml

2018 Sauvignon Blanc? Seems a little past its prime, no?

Nope, this is purpose-built, barrel-aged Fume Blanc-style Sauvignon that spends years in barrel on its lees. The net effect is a fabulously rich and exotic Sauvignon Blanc with gorgeous aromatics and a succulent mouthfeel. However, the acidity is all there too, adding a mouthwatering component to the succulence.

This wine retails for just south of $40 and has 92-95-point scores from Decanter, Wine Spectator, Jeb Dunnock, and James Suckling. It is outstanding.

Creamy vanilla surrounds pineapple and peach fruit in fresh, zesty bouquet. Fig, brioche, and lemon curd add complexity. Supple on entry with ripe cantaloupe and peach notes supported by mouthwatering fruit/acid tension that keeps things interesting throughout the long, chalky finish. Delicious!
