Lot 227 | 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Russian River Valley 750ml

Lot 227 | 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Russian River Valley 750ml

$75/bottle under the original label

Lot 227 is from the same producer as N.72 and Lot 201 Russian River Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This lot is from the same vintage as Lot 201, the producer just decided to sell off a tiny bit more. The wines are similar yet a little different, Lot 227 showing a bit darker and more brooding at the moment (which is to be expected given the July bottling date).

This is a gorgeous and expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. A rare varietal in the Russian River Valley, this wine benefits from the same soils that make the Russian River Valley such an incredible growing region for Pinot Noir.

Its fully ripe at 14.2% with one of the most expressive and lively noses you'll find on the north coast. The 2018 version scored 93+- to 97-point scores from major reviewers with comments like "Super-Classic", "total-knockout", "this is a gorgeous wine" and "ridiculous value" and the 2019 is as good, if not better. Put this in Napa Valley and triple its $75 price tag.

At $29 a bottle, its an incredible opportunity to own one of the prettiest Cabernet's in the state and one that will age phenomenally over the next decade or more. If you like energy in your Cabernet, don't miss this one - I'm not.

Opaque black with hint of magenta around the rim. Enticing perfume aromas of violets, vanilla and bourbon soak cherry, with spicy notes of hot cinnamon and coriander, framed lightly toasted french oak. Elegant yet palate-staining, with mouth watering vibrancy that candies the spiced, cherry fruit singing through the immaculate finish.

98% Cabernet, 2% Merlot, 100% Russian River Valley
50% new Taransaud French oak
14.2% alc.
