From the same producer as Lot 201 Russian River Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Lot 234 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir hails from a legendary Pinot Noir producer whose numerous bottlings are considered a reference for the region.
Their wines typically sell mailing list/tasting room only and have limited retail presence but they can be found for prices between $55-$70+/bottle. This a no-expense spared program utilizing approximately 25% new French oak and sourced from estate vineyards in the gorgeous rolling hills of Russian River benchmark Goldridge and Altamont soils.
I have only been able to purchase Cabernet and Syrah from them in the past. They have offered me some small Pinot lots but those were mostly press wines we weren't interested in; however, various factors collided and we were able to get our hands on a couple hundred cases of first-run Russian River Valley Pinot Noir earlier in the year. The wine is very impressive, nuanced, perfectly-balanced, elegant-yet-potent - just flat out beautiful and 100% classically styled.

Deep garnet in the glass bit with vivid purple hues. Boisterous bouquet of fresh, ripe cherry and cranberry is both lovely and pure, beautifully intermingled with forest floor, leather and spicy rose petal notes while darker plum and berry brood underneath with hints of chocolate. Perfect balance and pinpoint precision on the palate with ripe fruit nicely arrayed over chalky tannins and a pretty minerality providing plenty of energy and verve. Finishes long, pure and spicy with raspberry, cherry and chocolatey oak riding pretty mineral notes. Power, precision, and elegance are all here in abundance.
